お父さんになったので …

９月２１日に、息子が産まれた。

Our little Taiga boy was born in September 21st.

分娩室で息子の元気な泣き声をききながら、僕はこれまでに感じたことのない不思議な気持ちに包まれていた。嬉しさとワクワクと緊張と奥さんへのリスペクトなどが混ざったような気持ち。胸がいっぱいだった。生まれて初めての感情。

I had a feeling I've never had before. It's like a mixture of happiness, pressure, respect to my wife and excitement... And some more.

そしてその瞬間から息子中心の生活が始まった。

Since then, our life turned into baby-centered.

僕は携帯の壁紙を自分の子どもの写真にするようなやつにだけはなりたくないと前々から思っていた。男なら携帯の壁紙はドクロとかバイクとかマシンガンとか金髪美女であるべきだ。

しかしこのザマである。

I didn't think I would set my baby picture as a wallpaper on my phone because that didn't sound a cool guy. But, you know what, people do change.

でも自分の子どもに夢中になってしまうこの時期！あってもいいじゃないの。

But all of the parents are crazy about their kids and it's cute.

そして息子が産まれた時、もう1人の男も同時にこの世に誕生した。それが「お父さん・坂田」です。

At the same time he came to this world, the other man was born too. He is "Daddy Yuichi"

あまり過保護にはなりたくないが、お父さん・坂田として、息子がある程度の年齢になるまでは、やはり守ってあげなくてはならない。色々な脅威から…。

I don't wanna be too protective, but I have to protect my son from some threats. Many kinds of threats such as ...

悪女の誘惑  bad girls

ゾンビ.  Zombies

ケガや病気はともかく、悪女の誘惑とゾンビに襲われた経験が無い僕は、果たしてこれらの脅威から我が息子を守ることができるのか…。

I wonder if I can protect my little treasure from zombies or bad girls...

悪女の誘惑はもはや既婚者である僕が体験するのは難しい。せめてゾンビを体験できれば…

It's very hard to deal with bad girls but I wish I could practice dealing with zombies.

そんな時にカサンドラから朗報が舞い込む。なんとゾンビに襲われたいという全ての男の夢を叶えるイベントがあるというじゃないか。その名も The Zombie Run！

And Cassandra found the perfect event for me. That might make all of the people's dream come true. The Zombie Run.

さすがゾンビ発祥の地、アメリカ。こういうイベントはそんなに珍しくはありません。

Most of American like zombies. So it's not super difficult to find this kind of event. 

ゾンビが襲ってくる道を逃げながら走るというふざけたイベントですが、走る距離は5kmのスポーツイベントです。

It's for fun but still 5k. 

ご存知の通り、僕は決してシュッとした体型ではない。教師時代には「豚骨ラーメンのような体型」「悲劇的な体型」と中学生たちに残酷かつ的確に形容されたこともある。しかし、走ることは好きなのだ。つまりゾンビ好きで走り好きの僕にはこのイベントは大好物だった。まるで、豚骨ラーメンのように。

I like running. And also I like them, Zombies. So now you know how perfect this event is.

会場にはゾンビ係で応募した人がゾンビメイクをしてもらえる場所もありました。$10。僕は今回はサバイバーの方で参加したのでゾンビメイクはやってません。いつかやりたいなー。

You can do zombie make up for $10. I joined as a surviver so I didn't try it. It's a good idea to try it some day.

ゾンビメイクはしなかったけど、ハロウィンということで人生で初めてのコスチュームでウキウキ。ホラーコメディ映画の"Shaun of the Dead"のShaunになりました。準備が簡単だからな。

No zombie make up, but I became Shaun from "shaun of the dead". 

本物はこんな感じ not bad huh?

会場に集う、ゾンビラバー達。

Zombie lovers are my friends.

ゾンビ達が集合していた。こわい！ゾンビメイクのクオリティもピンキリといったところだな。

Zombies got together!! How exciting!!

さて、いよいよスタートする。３０人ほどのグループごとに出発！僕たちは2番目のグループだ。

They let us start by the group of 30ish.

Me and my brother Joe were in the second group.

スタートすると、狭いテントに押し込められる。このソルジャー曰く、「ここがこのエリアで最後の安全な場所」だそうだ。さらに「さっきのグループはちょっと失敗した。次はうまくいくといいな」だそうだ。果たして俺たちは無事にゴールに辿り着けるのか…。

After we started they put us all in a small tent. And the guy who looks like a soldier said something like "this is the last safe place in here" and "the group that started before you guys screwed up".

I wondered if we can survive the crazy zombie apocalypse.

途中には様々な障害物があった。これは壁ですね。

Many obstacles in the course. It's a wall.

まぁ、リアルに落ちたら骨折くらいはしそうな壁だ。

It was dangerous and difficult enough to break your bones!

あとはゾンビとか、迷路みたいなとことか、匍匐前進じゃないと進めないところとか…

And we got attacked zombies, crawling on the ground and running on the bumpy road.

色々あったけど、最後のこれが一番楽しかったよ。火の輪くぐり！！

We got to enjoy the course but the best one was these fire rings!!

アメリカっぽ〜い。なんかセガールって感じだな。

I thought that's so america. I felt like I was Steven Seagal.

で、僕たちは見事に生還したのでした。

And we survived!

最後にはその辺にいたゾンビーズと写真を撮ってもらいました。

I asked the zombies to take a picture with me.

こんな風に写真撮ってもらいたがるくせに、大したポーズの一つもできない自分。嫌いじゃない。

I wish I would be better at posing like a victim.

これで我が息子をゾンビアタックから守ることができるだろう。ありがとうゾンビラン(^^)

Now I'm more confident with protecting my son from zombie attack. Thanks, the zombie run!!
